Introduction to National Unity Essay

The meaning of national unity is the economic, social, political, and ideological unity of the entire India. There might be differences in our rituals, worship practices, lifestyles, and attire, but a sense of unity is visible in our political and ideological perspectives in every aspect. Thus, the feeling of unity in diversity is the key characteristic of our nation. This national unity is what builds a powerful and developed nation.

The Necessity of National Unity and Integrity

It is often observed that when our country faces an attack from foreign or external enemies, a wave of unity rises throughout the nation. However, afterwards, internal differences, regionalism, casteism, communalism, and terrorism, among other reasons, harm the unity of the country. Therefore, for the stability of democracy, the protection of freedom, and the all-round development of the nation, national unity and integrity are of great importance.

The Cultural Heritage of National Unity and Integrity

National unity and integrity have existed in our country as a cultural heritage since ancient times. Looking at the historical background, in ancient India, there were many republics, and due to geographical, religious, and cultural reasons, there was mutual cooperation and unity among them. Because of this unity, those republican unions were invincible. To maintain this unity, commendable efforts were made by many kings and great personalities.

The Present Form of National Unity

After gaining independence, democracy was established in our country. In the system of governance, instead of giving prominence to any particular caste or religion, all citizens were given equal rights, and national unity was strengthened by adopting the principle of political, ideological, and economic equality.

Seeing this situation of India, some nations are envious, and they indirectly want to weaken India’s unity. However, the citizens here have given a strong response to the deceitful policies, proxy wars, and terrorist activities of enemy nations, which has strengthened our national unity.

National Unity and Our Duty

At present, the state of national unity cannot be said to be strong because communalism, casteism, economic inequality, and political conspiracies are weakening its roots. In such a situation, it is our duty to be filled with the spirit of patriotism, give a strong response to divisive elements, and maintain national unity in every circumstance.

Conclusion

In brief, whenever there has been a lack of national unity in India, foreign powers have tried to establish themselves here, and they have fully exploited our internal divisions. To protect it, we have a significant duty towards national unity today.
